How To Fix a Calf Strain - Client Success!

We got our client with a calf strain over the line in her first ever half marathon

The Injury

Gosia is one of our success stories at LIFT. She came to us after pulling her calf when training for her first ever half marathon. This was obviously a big blow for Gosia so close to the marathon, but she came to LIFT for help and guidance. For context she could only run 3km before pain in the calf when she first met me in clinic.

Physio Assessment

We quickly booked Gosia into our sports injury clinic and confirmed the diagnosis of a calf strain. We worked out what the calf could do and how far off we were from running non stop for 2 hours. A road map was created and Gosia had a clear plan of what she needed to do.

Physio Treatment

A lot of the time with sports injuries soft tissue work has no real effect on the soft tissue. At LIFT we prefer to fix the root cause of the problem and for Gosia this meant she had to do exercises to get her calf stronger. She had weekly sessions with LIFT to continually progress her exercises which created an environment for a speedy recovery.


Physio Success

Gosia managed to run her first ever half marathon in 1:59:18 and the lift team could not be prouder of her efforts.
